Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge

The Ridgefield NWR is just a forty minute drive from my home, and is a fabulous location for bird photography in the autumn, winter and spring. The 4 mile auto route in your car allows for closer access to birds in the wild, since you car acts as a bird blind. I hope you enjoy my favorite photos from many visits here over the past four years, and maybe it will inspire a visit to this special location to see the wonder of these birds in their wild element. This gallery is entirely made up of color photos, but some of my favorite black and white photos from Ridgefield can be found in the Black and White gallery.  I've had so many memorable trips to this refuge, it was very difficult trimming this page to just forty-nine photos.
